The inevitable question - was it genuine or a replica?? 1] Some quotes from Link to "www.ferrarichat.com" - "It was a genuine car (16467). The wreck was acquired by Luigi Chinetti and subsequently rebodied by Michelotti." - "I know that car well, it also had a flat plywood dash, and Stewart Warner gauges fitted to it, for the filming. The rest of the inside of the car was gutted. The car was hit hard in the left door area, and the chassis was bent severely inward." - "The rolled car is a replacement, but that doesn't mean the Ferrari survived intact. They may actually have crashed it twice. I get the feeling it is not a coincidence that the repaired car was parked left side towards camera when filming that garage scene..." So main filming genuine, crash probably genuine but not quite confirmed. 2] But it may already have been a damaged example before ASIB filming from previous use in Gumball Rally - "Two Daytona spyders were used in GR and one was very badly damaged, probably in the drainage culvert as they tried to avoid the traffic queueing on the freeway at the end of the chase ...... The badly damaged car was repaired and then appeared in ASIB. Kris Kirstofferson, the fallen star drove himself to his death in a red one. He must have been one bad driver! Presumably, as the car turned over it may have been damaged all over again." - http://www.ferrari-daytona.co.uk/2402/info.php?p=7 3] - /vehicle_13365-Ferrari-365-GTS-4-1972.html |

That's interesting the plate seems to be in California's BAR record with three different vehicles not including this |

My guess is somebody just transfers the plate from car to car when they get a new one. |

http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/16467.365.GTS4.htm Seems [14829] was also used in this film - http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/14829.365.GTS4.htm If so, then both cars here repeat their paired usage from Gumball Rally. |

More info and pics on the rebuild by Michelotti here. Seems this was the first of eventually 5 similar Spiders for Chinetti, and the very last car designed by Giovanni Michelotti. Nice Matrix model - they also 2 others from the series of five. |
