Reused short extract from here but adds extra footage, so BRS 147 plate (Aberdeen, 1945) now legible. |

Plugging the plate into Google brought this up. |

Atkinson M1266 then, as confirmed by this similar truck... http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p506455364/h1ec26f91#h1ec26f91 Atkinson M1266 12-ton six wheeler Gardner 6LW engine -- Last edit: 2017-12-21 20:43:53 |

Or 1266 M to sit alongside this 1266 A?? |

As M1266 appears in the (edit) description and advert I guess we have it correct - Looking back at Wikipedia's 'Atkinson nomenclature' I will try to solve prefix (denoting what?) versus suffix (engine). Will return if or when I can get a better grip on it, dsl. -- Last edit: 2017-12-21 21:26:31 |

Found prefixes H, M and L (for heavy, medium and light duty frames)! Therefore M1266 is correct for edit M1260 chassis with '6' Gardner engine. 1266 A (edit corrected to 1266) is OK but could have a H, M or L prefix. -- Last edit: 2017-12-21 21:39:45 |

M1266 is a medium wheelbase, 12T payload, 6 wheeler with a 6 cylinder Gardner engine. If it had an AEC engine, it would be M1266A. |
