The current owner, digger, posted a comment on the main page. Is there a way of having two names in the owners field, or should we just replace Babybix with digger? |

This scene was the reenactment of the murder of Darlene Ferrin and the attempted murder of her friend, Michael Mageau who were both shot as they were sitting in Ferrin's Chevrolet Corvair by the Zodiac at Blue Rock Springs Park in Vallejo, California in the early hours of the 5th July 1969. Ferrin died on arrival at the local hospital, while Mageau survived his wounds and was available to give a description of the killer. The investigation into the murder of Darlene Ferrin and the attempt on Mike Mageau had turned a number of leads. About 40 minutes after the Blue Springs Park Attack at 12:40AM, the Zodiac called the Vallejo Police Department and had claimed responsibility for the attack. When the police dispatcher, Nancy Slover asked his name, the caller told Slover about the location where Ferrin and Mageau and their car was and that they were shot with a 9mm Luger pistol. The caller then stated that he killed Faraday and Jensen on the night of the 20th December 1968 before telling Slover "good bye" in taunting voice and then hung up before Slover got a chance to transfer the call to a desk officer. The call was later traced to a public phone box at a petrol station on the intersection of Springs Road and Tuolumne Street in East Vallejo, about ten minutes from Blue Spring Rock Park and only few blocks from the police station. The public phone box at the garage was also located about 528 yards from Ferrin's house. At the scene at the Blue Rock Spring Park, detectives recovered two partial prints off the passenger's side door on couple's Corvair, along with seven 9mm cartridges, the cartridge cases were later identified as Western Brand 9mm ammunition, commonly used in Luger pistols. At the phone box, detectives ran into a problem when they recovered multiple prints on the phone, making it impossible to identify the caller's prints. Another problem that the detectives had at the phone box was that at the time the call to the Vallejo Police was placed, the petrol station was closed and no witnesses came forward. In their search for the killer, detectives had first looked at Ferrin's husband, Dean Ferrin. In his statement, Dean Ferrin stated that he had knew about Darlene Ferrin's close friendship with Mageau, but didn't harbored any resentment towards them, Ferrin further stated that he last seen Darlene Ferrin at 10:30 on the night of the 4th July when she came to see him at the Caesar's Restaurant where he worked as a cook, when the murder of Darlene Ferrin and the attack on Mike Mageau occurred, Dean Ferrin was still at work and therefore was ruled out. With Dean Ferrin ruled out, detectives then focused on Darlene Ferrin's first husband, James Crabtree who Darlene Ferrin broken up with after moving to Nevada in June 1967, but again was ruled out. Acting on information from Mike Mageau's twin brother, Stephen Mageau, detectives then turned their attention to Darlene's neighbour, George Waters who Darlene had reported to being "afraid of" shortly before her murder. George Waters was considered as a promising suspect as he made several uncomfortable statements towards Darlene at her work and at her home before her death, but was ruled out at he was out with his wife watching the fireworks before coming home at 11:00 on the night of the 4th July. In a statement made while recovering from his wounds in hospital, Mageau described the killer as a white male aged between 26 and 30 years old, about 5'8 inches tall, weighing between 195 pounds and 200 pounds with light brown short curly hair. A month after the Blue Springs Park Attack on the 1st August, the Zodiac sent three letters to the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Examiner, and the Vallejo Times Herald, the third letter sent to the San Francisco Chronicle contain the first cryptogram, Cipher 408 (as it contained 408 characters), in the letter, the Zodiac claimed his real name was in the cryptogram. Six days later, on the 7th August, the San Francisco Examiner received another letter from the Zodiac containing the details of the previous murders and a day later on the 8th August, Cipher 408 was decrypted by teacher; Donald Harden and his wife, Betty from Salinas, California. The cipher revealed a misspelt message stating that he was killing people to collect slaves for the afterlife and that he would not give away his real name as this slow and possible stop his "Slave Collection". -- Last edit: 2022-02-27 13:17:48 |

While I'm not sure about the trim level, the color and year are both accurate to the real car. |
