Thornycroft perhaps? Looks like a compressor truck or auxiliary power support vehicle for aircraft rather than fire truck to me. |

Thornycroft and a fire tender definetly. Hubs give it away. Never seen body like that before but there were so many specialist fire engine builders in UK. |

Found I believe as a Kidde-Sun Crash Tender as probably built on a Thornycroft Nubian 4x4 chassis. Cab is the same and most of the body is very similar to some exported to Eire in 1951 centre of this advert... Possibly has a rear mounted foam delivery system. edit: Looks like a new vehicle at the time of filming. -- Last edit: 2020-04-24 14:00:23 |

Well done , did the CM archive give you a start as I found one there for right period but it had a different body style. |

No JCB. I searched all CM Archive references with no luck; only google plus your certainty that it was a fire engine! (Found under Sun Engineering - knowing they used Nubians.) -- Last edit: 2017-05-10 21:44:34 |

I was also certain it was a Nubian but forgot to put that in post Heard of Sun before but never Kidde , very interesting . |

A couple of blurry detail shots for small door above top of arch (intelligent design for emergency use?!?!) and poking-out headlamps |
