Well I've noticed that UK-registered Sierras get listed on IMCDB as both UK and DE.
/vehicles_make-Ford_model-Sierra.html

In 2001, Ford ended car production in the UK. Sierras were manufactured in Germany, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, although also assembled in Argentina, Venezuela, South Africa, and New Zealand

Most of the recent European Ford should be listed as German (or European) for me.
Stronghold was listing some as UK, where I was listing most of these as German, cf this discussion for Escort models: http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-1615-Ford_Escort_countries.html
Even if they may have been made in UK, these cars were not considered as English cars anymore, no?

I don't think any person would accept a pan-European design to all be labelled German.

The Sierra was built in the UK throughout its life. I would expect that in the eyes of many a British person, it would be considered a British car, and not disregard it because it had European design and manufacture ties. As far as I was aware, today British-manufactured Ford engines and driveline continue to be exporteded to Germany for current Ford model bodyshells.

Ford = Germany. Simple.

edit, ok then: Ford Sierra = Germany, just like the Fiesta, Escort, Scorpio etc. Let's keep it simple.

No, I disagree. We are talking here about the Ford Sierra modesl, not Ford as a whole.

Ford U.S., Ford U.K., Ford Germany, and Ford Australia are all separate. The Sierra is a British Ford, not a German one.

As I said previously somewhere else, I think that a good solution would be using a similar system as what they used on the German Wikipedia Ford page:
Link to "de.wikipedia.org"
Label as "European" all the European Ford made after the 70s, to solve that DE/UK problem :D

Sorry, but no.

As I sated above, the Ford Sierra was built in the UK throughout its life. It can't be stated as 'made for UK'. UK Escort production ceased in 2001 at the Halewood plant on Merseyside as they prepared to build the Jaguar X-Type. Car production at the Dagenham plants finally came to an end in February 2002.

The UK<>DE concern is a lot more inter-twined much like Ford(Aus)<>Mazda, and can't be stated as seperate. The 'Merkur' branded Sierras sold in the US were German-built and exported models.

Just look at the VIN code:

Yes I know, but a Mitsubishi Carisma is built in Holland, but origin is still Japan, same for smart Forfour.

Yes, these table confirm that European Fords cannot be all labelled as of German Origin :)
The Factory table represents current/recent model lines - however this car was built 1992-93.

Hondas and Nissans are built in the UK, Peugeots too until recently. But workers (or buyers) would not consider them British cars. This would not be the case for the Escorts and Sierras, which had much more UK design and research input. I would have to agree with Antoine, if there is to be blanket change to the database.

As far as I'm aware, some Sierra models were made in the UK until around 1989 when production moved to either Belgium and/or Germany.
