It probably just has some sort of evil look to it. Why don't they use more newer trucks like a Kenworth T2000, Mack Vision, or Freightliner Columbia?

those trucks aren't very evil looking, the peterblts have a rather menacing design with the long hood etc

After seeing this movie, every time I see a black Peterbilt, I get nervous. But Peterbilt isn't ALWAYS the evil truck. In Transformers, it was the good guy. The strongest and best of them all. As well as in Black Dog. It was the good truck. The bad one was a White WCA 64T. And I agree, it IS a sweet rig. All Peterbilts are. They're my fave.

I actually think this Peterbilt has an Extended Hood so it would be 359 EXHD

They had Plenty of these 359's in this movie

#1 1987 i guess after this movie it was painted blue for fast and the furious then painted back black in 2003 for Suspect Zero were it was totaled, in the this truck was used on the interstate scene, the Gas Station scene, after the ICe Truck Scene, and the time the Thomas boys had to go in the the truck stop naked in the original ending it also passed then when they were running on the interstate after the corn field scene were the Medfort sign said 7 Miles

#2 1985 Was the Main Truck and mostly featured they got it was mostly featured in the in the original ending of the Corn Field Scene and the Ice Truck Scene after they got the car started they switched to the 87 This 85 is in Milwaukee,Wisconsin

#3 The 1976 & 1979 blew up at the end of the corn field scene you can tell that they blew up 2 cause the 1976 was a tri axle

#4. the 1975 the hood was crushed in the scene that Paul Walker drove the truck in another ending it was also used in the movie's ending when Lewis see's the truck driving in the fence and driving away from Fullerafter the pipe in his leg it was also in the corn field scene after he kidnapped Venna it drove outta Corn Field this truck has been scrapped today

#5. was an 1982 was used in the Movie's Corn Field "the 2nd cornfield" Scene except that little scene This Truck is owned by a a small fleet the guy has about 6 or 7 trucks he also purchased the trailer from Breakdown this truck is located in Detroit,Michigan

#6. the 1983 wnet the through the Hotel at the end and was the one revving tring to run over Fuller this truck has been scrapped today

There's all you Info I got this info from George Sack

and 4x4 23,

I don't know where you got your info, but it's only half correct, yes the main truck was an '87 and this truck was an '85, but they only had 4 trucks in this movie, not 6

That 87.. Do you happen to know if it's one of the numbered classics?
FYI for those who don't know, the numbered classic 359s were the last 359 Peterbilt 359s that were built in late 1986 marked with a dash plaque marking the end of the 359.

The 1985 Peterbilt 359 EXHD was recently just for sale on Facebook with documents to prove that it was the one actually used during filming and the script for the film with the whole cast that had signed it also came with it and a custom pillow was made for the sleeper that had also come with it

Documents for the truck used in the second film also came with the truck

1985 Peterbilt 359 EXHD

This truck is still around amazingly! After filming wrapped up, this truck was left in rough shape. It was bought and fixed up around 2003-2004. During the 2010's it received several modifications to it's body and cab. It's running and is well taken care of as of 2023.

Here's a progression of the truck:

- (Post-Production) - -------------------------- - (Late 2000's) - --------------------- - (2010's) - -------------------------- - (2020's) -

This model name was given to Peterbilt 359 models with extended hoods. This was also the case with 379 models.

Here's a 359 EXHD hood compared to a standard 359 hood.

I can see why the extended models aren't listed as such. It's very hard to notice for most. Except for "truck nuts" of course. :D

Say, do you happen to know if this Pete had a Cummins or a CAT? I know there are other engine options, just not too keen on that stuff lol.

The Facebook post I sourced these pictures from states that the truck has a Caterpillar 3408 engine. But I have no idea about the other stunt trucks used. (The one used in the corn field scene was painted blue for The Fast and the Furious. It was wrecked during the production of the movie Suspect Zero)

The one used in the cornfield scene was the 3408 Cat Truck that currently survives today the 3408 Cat Truck was also used in the majority of the cornfield scene in the original alternative ending as well, Too

The one that was painted blue for the fast and furious film that had came out in 2001 which also had starred Paul Walker was a numbered classic that was a 1987 that had a regular 3406 425 Cat Engine it would of been in any scene before the ice truck and was even used back and forth in ice truck scene and both a little bit in the end hotel scene and a little bit back and forth the actual cornfield scene used in the actual film

In the original alternative ending Rusty Nail also shows up at the truck stop where the boys went inside nude and that also would of been the 1987 along with running am ambulance off of the road in the original alternative ending

I'm completely unaware what the last two stunt trucks that were used to film Joy Ride had for engines, But, There were four trucks total used to film the first Joy Ride film as said in the commentary of the film on the dvd

Sweet, thanks for the info. All those are stellar rigs, even when all busted up, lol. Menacing at the same time, for sure. The trailer was a nice touch, too.
