A lifelong interest in cars, inspired from the beginning by living in Brussels from 1954-56 at a very young and impressionable age - Austin A40 Somerset, Ford Consul Mk1, Tatra, Cadillac, Renault Fregate, Chevrolet Styleline, Ford Customline, Oldsmobile, Kaiser, Ford Taunus, Mercedes 170, Opel Rekord and Vauxhall Wyvern all parked in our street at any one time. My first car in 1967 was a left-hand drive Vauxhall Velox from late 1951 -one of the first E-models exported to France, with the initial side-opening bonnet and with carryover L-type 2275cc six engine; also with GM's Gennevilliers-sur-Seine VIN plate on the bulkhead. Subsequent cars included further E-model Vauxhalls, Austin and Wolseley Landcrabs, Rover P4 110, Morris Oxford Series III, Mini 1000, Mini Clubman. Present classic: 1952 Wolseley 6/80. Fervent old film enthusiast. Favourite period of car: 1930s to 1960s. Would love to own a c.1950 Opel Kapitan, '49-'53 Ford Vedette or 34-35 Terraplane.
