This isn't relevant other than it being an 80s song but I've been listening to this this morning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVvb3MS57yk -- Last edit: 2011-12-24 18:55:23 |

Bacon's bike is a 1984/5 Raleigh USA Competition, while Nelson Vails machine in the opening is a 1984/5 Raleigh USA Grand Prix; two notches down in the lineup from the Competition. One of the messengers in the opening has an '84/5 Super Course as well; the model that sits between the Competition and Grand Prix in the lineup. All three were Japanese or Taiwanese made for the U.S. market only. Fishburne also has a Raleigh USA, but it's a strange Nottingham-made machine that I've not yet been able to identify - it follows the same paint scheme as the other USA models, but it has a green semi-transparent paint-over-chrome finish. I've seen one other like this in orange, and unlike other Raleigh USA models, it's identified as having been made in England. It was not an Ilkston SBDU frame, but a standard Nottingham production frame, as I recall. -Kurt |
