Surprisingly most of the background vehicles are of European origin. There are a lot of background vehicles but I only listed the unusual ones. -- Last edit: 2008-07-05 04:37:03 |

Was this movie a British movie or an Australian movie? |

It's Australian. There's a link to the Internet Movie Database entry next to the title. That will save you having to ask. |

The very visible ones can be listed too (i.e. not blurred and which fill a large part of the pic) |

Those Bedford security vans were a very standard body style used by one of the major security companies of the time. Used to be a familiar site; my understanding is that they were scrapped after being decommisioned, to prevent a scenario similar to that shown in the film (fake van painted up to look like a current one). |

This film was inspired by two of the most daring robberies that occurred in 1970: Mayne Nickless Armoured Car Robbery - The armed holdup of a Mayne-Nickless armoured truck committed by armed robbers; Steve Nitties, Alan Jones and Francis "Baldy" Blair at Guildford, NSW on the morning of the 4th March 1970. The gang stole $587,890 in the robbery, the investigation revealed that the robbery was planned by Leslie "The Torch" Woon. Metropolitan Security Service Robbery - The armed holdup of the Metropolitan Security Service by two robbers disguised as police officers at the Metropolitan Security Service Office on Clark Street in South Melbourne, Victoria on the night of the 11th June 1970. The robbery took 10 minutes and resulted in the theft of the weekly payroll for the Ford Factories in Geelong and Broadmeadows, totalling $250,000. The two robbers then made their getaway in a light blue 1957 Holden Utility bearing Victoria registration number GSP-884. An registration check revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Leslie Street in Essendon, Victoria shortly before the robbery. -- Last edit: 2021-05-15 14:52:21 |

Heads up: I believe this fine movie deserves a nice 1080p upgrade here, so I took the time and sent the appropriate images to antp to process as his time permits. In doing so I found some additional background vehicles that may be worth listing. I will submit them or list them in a separate comment shortly. |

Update done. I'm not sure all these Bedford J should really be listed separately I would have listed all on the same page if they are the same model and same color. |

Note: /vehicle_183152-Ford-Capri-1970.html was not updated because the 1080p version of the movie is matted widescreen and as such most of this car is not visible in it. That said, there is this Ford elsewhere and if it's the same Capri, perhaps it can be used instead: I submitted the additional vehicles, except these two as they may be too small/blurry: (the blue one between the van and the red car) (the sedan left of the Keep Left sign) |
