1978 made-for-TV disaster film. The discovery of a new comet brings much celebration to the scientific community, though this celebration is short lived as it is soon discovered that this comet will strike the Earth in 8 days! Soon, it is made clear that the comet is destined to crash down in Phoenix, Arizona. Following a failed attempt at destroying the comet with ICBMs, mass evacuations are made, though not everyone is able to escape and thusly must seek shelter inside the impact zone and hope. If you can get past the awful picture quality, this is a really good film. The destruction of Phoenix uses very good model work, especially for a TV film. Could be considered a less-apocalyptic precursor to Deep Impact! Vintage limousine too poorly visible, though I will add it if it can be identified. Not to be confused with the 1993 alien abduction film Fire in the Sky /movie_106912-Fire-in-the-Sky.html Airdate: November 26th, 1978 |

^ Would you believe that I have no idea whatsoever? Though it's not "hi-def", just an ordinary SD copy. |
