Glasgow film based around the (in)famous Red Road flats
[Image: redroad.jpg]
- eight blocks built in the 1960s, when they were apparently the tallest structures in Europe, but all now demolished. The film is the first part of a planned "Advance Party" trilogy - with Donkeys being the second and no sign yet of the third film - where the links are more about the rules of film-making, Glasgow locations, and retaining several cast members than to a direct story line (although there are several shared themes). Seems to be a concept derived from Lars Trier and the rules he sets for his film-making.

Very difficult and jagged film to watch and fully understand about the long-term effects of bereavement and loss, but it is incredibly powerful when it finally begins to make sense and the reasons why the characters do what they do start to fully come together - it's taken me 3 viewings to really appreciate these subtleties and logic. It's also got one of the most perfectly matched songs-to-mood-of-film I've ever come across as the closing credits roll - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvSmyb5XLu8 .

No humour apparent through the film apart from these ads at the newsagents

A difficult film to do for imcdb - most of the sequences are shown through CCTV, which affects quality of captures and makes it less obvious which vehicles have roles compared to genuine 1* backgrounds captured by chance - which might explain why first poster only entered the Vectra Mk2 and with just one picture.

2* bus interiors in 2 segments - likely to be the same bus for filming reasons, but impossible to confirm - no exterior shots

Rejects - partly seat-of-pants judgement why these don't get pages compared to others which did, and why I did not take any captures of other stuff of which there's loads of 1990s porridge - I could easily have doubled or trebled this bit, but began to feel pointless

- Hyundai - possibly pink in daylight from other slight glimpses

- seen as she fastforwards through the CCTV footage. VW or Skoda?? Or??
