Something is fishy with IMDb's Top 250, at the moment this title is ranked #1 with a 9.5 average for 23,611 votes cast. That would seem to imply that this was the greastest movie ever made of all time. In my opinion it was a good solid 8, I guess that the sample of their current voting results may not be very representative. http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

I would give it a solid 9, it does pretty much what a sequel should do by improving upon the original in every way. Great visuals, a good cast (Heath Ledger's performance is creepy, yet at the same time can still evoke laughter) and nice pacing between the drama and the action make this the best summer movie of 2008, IMHO.

a firetruck seen on fire is an E-One Hurricane Ladder circa 1983, like this one:
http://firenews.org/ri/BristolRIL1.jpg
if i remember right, 1983 was the first year E-One fully built their own trucks.
by 1985 the design had changed slightly:
http://firenews.org/mass/SeekonkL1.jpg

also some school buses seen, the back of a Ward/AmTran/IC with an International/IC chassis circa 1992-2004 is seen. This is used at the beginning of the movie and re-used later on, probably meant to be a different bus but the liscence plate gives it away. Some 2005+ IC CE buses (the newer version of the older bus) are also seen.

A Chevrolet Step Van SWAT truck is used by the police.

There was also a early-90s Cadillac Deville/Fleetwood in this movie. The Joker is seen shooting at it, it was sometime mid-way through the movie. I'm not sure if that would be one or two stars though...

Hey guys, I've seen the movie last Thursday, and the 2003 Town Car rolled over after Harvey Dent shot its driver! When I saw that, I was terrified because that was the very 1st time that I see a Town Car from the present generation rolling over several times! Why did they destroy a very nice beauty?!

No, it was much higher. For a while, it was the top rated movie on IMDb. But that was due to fanboys voting numerous times.

I thought I saw the E-One logo on the fire truck, just before it exploded or burned up in the new Batman movie. I have a friend who works there and he doesn't believe me. I've been trying to find a still-shot of the scene with E-One fire truck. I've searched for awhile now but no luck. Any chance anyone has one? I can offer as "reward" a definitive identification of model and year (courtesy of my contact), if I could just track down an image from the movie scene to send him.

To clarify everything all of the cars I’m listing below were rented out.
The only one that I bought from the set was the Park Avenue.
The Buick was bought to be sold. I knew it was the Jokers car and I thought it would be a good investment. Also my wife has been driving the car since we bought it. I feel bad now that Heath Ledger has passed on and I do not wish to make money off that. RIP…. I still want to sell the car but I hope no one gets offended by this.

All of these cars were 100% in this movie and I have proof also
all of the marked cars are complete minus the logo on the door and plates
1998 e350 news van 1 of 1
1984 Chevy bomb squad 1 of 1
3x 1999-2001 marked vics
2x 2000 marked explores were also used in batman begins (scene on the bridge) 2 of 2
2003 vic Gordens car silver vic 1 of 1
2000 vic dark blue vic 1 of 1
1997 taxi cab yellow vic
1996 Buick Park Avenue Ultra purple/gray the scenes were cut but this was in fact jokers car and 1 of 1,if you look on youtube you will be able to
a video with Heath Ledger goofing off near the car

Hey Ford Guy, how come your captures are in 4:3 aspect ratio instead of 16:9 (standard widescreen)? This means part of the picture gets cut out, on the Excursion page a widescreen capture would have shown the whole car. I rented the DVD but because it was widescreen it meant some of the cars would have looked smaller (although the images had a higher resolution), so I thought it was better to leave it until someone uploads captures from the Blu-Ray DVD (now this site allows Blu-Ray captures).

I guess he had the fullscreen (4:3) version instead of the widescreen one. In USA such versions seem more common than here in Europe.

About HD version, I have it, but haven't watched it yet. I do not know if I will redo captures or not though.

G-MANN UK

2009-03-26 21:54

I don't know how long it will be until I start adding Blu-Ray captures, I don't even own a Blu-Ray player for my TV, let alone my computer, and I still have a CRT monitor. Blu-Ray titles are so expensive at the moment as well, although I could still rent them from LOVEFILM.

Ford_Guy US

2009-03-26 22:27

Indeed, I do have the fullscreen version which, as antp said, seem to be much more common here than across the pond. But if any of you wants to replace the main images with better quality ones, especially from an HD/blu-ray source, i have no problem. But if that does happen, I would like my thumbnail comments to stay as I did work quite hard on those. Or I'm sure something could be worked out ;)

antp BE

2009-03-27 10:28

Of course.
Anwyay I usually never delete/remplace thumbnail images, just main ones, that's already enough work.
And if I do, I try to replace by same scene (like for main pictures) and keep text comments that go with them.

-- Last edit: 2009-03-27 10:29:12

Ford_Guy US

2009-03-27 19:55

Also, if anybody else posts additional thumbnails (I know G-MANN already has), I don't mind them being added to my own comments. This way they can be seen together at the top of the comments. But whoever does so should give themself credit, of course ;)

HD pictures will be added soon (I did most of the captures) but there are some that I did not find.
I added time-tags for all those that I found: /movie.php?resultsStyle=asList&sortBy=7&id=468569

Of course for that one it was easy to find a picture. Well for the others, for some I have an idea, but I do not know if I will take time to go make the capture :D But at least now most of the captures are from HD widescreen version.

antp BE

2009-05-20 20:06

No, it is a mkv video file, a "blu-ray rip" like previously we had divx files made from dvd, "dvd rip" :D (but these HD mkv videos still give a much better image quality than a DVD, for the same space, usually 4.3 or 8 GB).
I do not know how to make captures from blu-ray though. The program provided with my PC does not allow that, maybe PowerDVD or recent WinDVD versions could do it.

"Officially", you can't take screenshots from a bluray. The only way to do it is to use a program like AnyDVD to decrypt the video, and play the video files in in a program like Media Player Classic or VLC (which can play bluray but cannot decrpyt the AACS copy protection) to take screenshots.

Of course. But my PC has one. So I can play a blu-ray, but not make captures since I have to use the software provided with the PC, as MPC/VLC cannot play these. If as IRT_BMT_IND said it is not easy, I will probably not make captures from actual blu-ray but just from rips, which gives the same quality for imcdb anyway.

That listing is a little odd. First of all, that's a 1999 model so I don't know why it's listed as a 1998 model. Second, the color and lightbar, along with some of the markings, don't match those of the GPD cars in the film. Maybe it was "restored" after production ended.

All the vehicles in the film have number plates that share the same design to the Illinois number plates.

The only differences between the Illinois and Gotham plates are:

. All Illinois number plates has "Illinois" written on the top but written in the same style of lettering as Gotham number plates.

. Illinois plates has the portrait of Abraham Lincoln drawn in the centre of number plate where Gotham plates has the seal of Gotham City.

. Illinois plates has the slogan; "Land of Lincoln" where Gotham plates has the slogan; "City of Gotham".

. All the plates used on the municipal police vehicles in Illinois has two different designs; one has the dark green on the white background with the slogan on the top and the state's name on the bottom and the other has similar design to the other Illinois plates but has state's name written in different style of lettering and has the letters "MP" going vertically on the left with the numbers and sometimes; the lettering in blue; while police vehicles in Gotham has the same design as other Gotham plates; but with the word; "Police" going vertically on both sides and only has numbers in red.

. Each class of vehicle in Illinois has their own number plates where all classes of vehicles in Gotham have the same design.
