Taken from If War Should Come - vol 3 (1939-41) of 3 BFI compilation DVD sets of shorts from The GPO Film Unit. 6-minute propaganda film based on 15 September 1940, a day when 185 German planes were shot down (178 by RAF fighters, 7 by AA guns; strangely they don't mention any RAF losses). Apparently a pivotal day as Germany abandoned daylight bombing raids on Britain 2 days later and switched to night-time raids. http://www.screenonline.org.uk/film/id/1364874/index.html , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAS4w8Vv_-g . Only 2 entries posted as it's pretty well all planes. A couple of rejects: 1] lorry and saloon behind 2] a bonnet Other stuff I know about MI6 (Military Intelligence) from all those documentaries featuring Daniel Craig as James Bond, but never realised it had a twin as AI6 (Air Intelligence) Planes for impdb: basically I chickened out of making captures because there'd be far too many, so suggest you grab your own off the youtube copy linked above. But here's some spotter charts ... and a wreck picture reused from /movie.php?id=404060 ... and an unconvincing mock-up .. which looks very similar to reconstruction dogfight footage from /movie.php?id=152579 . |
