Fairly conventional lightweight Scottish comedy-drama about a bunch of Scottish scallywags having various extraordinary adventures in their remote village "... a one-horse town in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands. Nothing much happens until close friends Fitz, Nellie and Seany accidentally find gold. The discovery triggers a series of increasingly absurd and desperate events" - very much in the Local Hero genre, and I spotted several bit-part actors reprising local eccentrics from Hamish Macbeth. Good fun while it lasts, but fades away quickly afterwards.

Based in the fictional village of Tullybridge

which was actually Tomintoul, which is claimed to be the highest village in Highlands at 345m (1,132ft) and is regularly the first place in Scotland to be cut off when it snows.

However it is still much lower than the highest village in Scotland (Wanlockhead in Dumfries and Galloway - 1,531ft/467m) which may or may not be the highest village in UK depending on the rival claims made by Flash in Staffordshire).

Nicely photographed to capture the bleak rundown feeling of the village

(Thames petrol is a common brand in remote parts of Scotland - I think more of a supplier than than a producer)
