A mildly amusing farce with Joe E. Brown and a long sort-of-chase with an armored van. Some background stuff: |

Isn't "Guy" more of a first name and proper noun in the UK? They should have called it "A Very Honourable Guv" there. |

In my part of the U.K. a guy is something that gets burned on Nov 5th each year in honour of Guido (Guy) Fawkes, whose failure to blow up the Parliament in 1605 is still a matter of disappointment to us. Guy is a make of lorry or bus built in Wolverhampton. As far as the film title goes, you might choose between geyser, chap or bloke. There are also regional variations. My personal favourite would be “cove”, not honourable at all, a bit raffish and somewhat Wodehousian. Many things affect my equanimity these days, but very little gets me more incandescent than walking, in a family or friendship group, into a restaurant or similar, and being addressed with the words “Hi Guys”! -- Last edit: 2023-08-02 18:51:15 |

Not sure about the bread rolls, but the accent change from the town of Cannock to the City of Stoke on Trent (about 28 miles) is remarkable. And all within Staffs. |
