This film deals with one of the greatest legends in history that is the Grand Duchess Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandria of the former Russian Empire had survived the 1917 Russian Revolution and the murder of her family and was found and was reunited with her grandmother, Empress Marie Feodorovna (the mother of the Tsar).

This film also features famous figures in history, these are:

Josephine Baker - The African American actress, dancer and singer who performed in Europe and America and had lived in France, often took her diamond collared pet cheetah, Chiquita to the fashion shows and had often worn her banana costume when she were performing as well as her love of art gave birth to the term, Art Deco.

Isadora Duncan - The American dancer who performed in Western Europe and had lived in the Soviet Union, later died when her scarf got caught on the rear spokes and axle of the car she was in and was hurled out of the car.

Sigmund Freud - The Austrian neurologist who was the founding father of the field of Psychoanalysis.

Charles Lindbergh - The American aviator who flew across the Atlantic solo from New York to Paris and whose two-year-old son was kidnapped and murdered.

Grigori Rasputin - The healer who worked with the Romanov family to "cure" the Tsar's young son, Alexei of his haemophilia (depicted in film as the main villain who wants revenge on the Tsar and his family for being banished as a traitor to the Court).

First bit of the film is set in 1916 in St. Petersburg (the former capital of the former Russian Empire) before and during the outbreak of the 1917 Russian Revolution and the rest of the film is set in 1926, four years after the Russian Empire became the Union of Socialist Soviet Republic also known as the Soviet Union or the CCCP.

In certain scenes, the movie features a map showing the main characters' journey from St. Petersburg to Paris and this map shows the countries of Europe as they were back in the 1920s.

These were:

Czechoslovakia - known as the First Czechoslovak Republic now spilt into the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine.

Danzig - Known as The Free City of Danzig, now part of Poland.

East Prussia - Now parts of Poland, Germany and the Russian Federation.

The Irish Free State - Now known as the Republic of Ireland.

The Weimar Republic - Later became known as Nazi Germany and then later spilt into West and East Germany before being reunited into what is now known as Germany.

There were other countries that were part of Europe in the 1920s that wasn't shown on the map, these were:

Albanian Republic - Later became the Kingdom of Albania and is now known as Albania.

First Austrian Republic - Later became the Federal State of Austria and is now known as Austria.

Saar - Now part of Germany.

The Kingdom of Bulgaria - Now parts of Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia and Serbia.

The Kingdom of Hungary - Now parts of Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.

The Kingdom of Iceland - Now known as Iceland.

The Kingdom of Italy - Now parts of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia.

The Kingdom of Romania - Now parts of Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.

The Kingdom of Yugoslavia - Now parts of Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
