Why not? I like it quite a lot..... |

These guys are totally nuts - but their knwoledge about cars and their parts is exorbitant. Really, the guy in the storage knows more than 1 millon of parts - and where they are located. No joke: their behaviour is in reality the same like in TV, no acting. And: they are smelling like they are looking! I've met them in 2006 at that event: http://www.creme21-rallye.de/ By the way: in the episode of that youngtimer-rallye, you can see my car, with me and my wife inside. |

You appear in this tv series Ingo ? |
|
◊ 2008-01-21 18:18 |
Yes, but for a very short sentence. One guy (Manni?) says "Oh a K 70. We've wrecked so many of them!" and then my car is to see. |

And why dont you submit the episode ? |

I even cannot mount pics in the forum, so I'm not able to mount pics over here. And I don't own vidcaps. |
|

... and I don´t even own any related vid or a DVD. Why? Well... because these four brothers have their junkyard located about 20 km from where I live. So I think it might be better not to comment their TV adventures... *rolling eyes* But I can assure the following: They don´t PLAY any roles, they really ARE like this (though the plot of any episode is scripted, of course). They´ve always been some kind of an automotive "legend" around here for ages and it appears like they really have everything in stock. In my eyes it´s quite tragic how TV producers sell them out. |

Could someone briefly summarize what this show is about and what the Ludolfs are like? |
|
◊ 2008-01-22 08:13 |
This show is about the "Ludolfs" four brothers who work on their scrapyard in Germany. The show is a reallife soap and follows the everyday life on the scrapyard. Each show the Ludolfs pull some kind of stunt with a car. In the episode with the GSA they try to drive it on three wheels as they saw this in a commercial some time ago. In another episode they let a Saab 96 compete with a VW Beetle in hillclimbing. The Ludolfs are like the stereotype scrapyard owner, the do not look or act very distinghuised, but once you get to know them their quite allright. -- Last edit: 2008-01-22 08:15:01 |

Is it like the silly bits of Top Gear (the daft games and experiments they do with cheap cars) but in a scrapyard with scruffier hosts? |
|
◊ 2008-01-22 13:20 |
no, not really the stunts are less spectacular and it is not a show, it is a real life soap. There are no hosts, it is a documentary of the life of the four brothers at the scrapyard. It is broadcasted on discovery.. I shouldn't have used the word 'show'in the earlier comments.. I see now... -- Last edit: 2008-01-22 13:22:26 |

At the "Creme 21"-rallye we talked with the film-makers (two guys, more were not neccessary). Surely, after the back of the Ludolf's everyone was loughing about them. But they are real "orignals", polite, friendly, (very)naive and always helpful. The film-makers told us, that they never had such an easy work (and cheap to make). No casting, no training, no briefing, nothing. They just let the camera running. That's all. @carchasefanatic: I try to get a vidcap. -- Last edit: 2008-01-22 19:31:08 |

Oh, yes. "Brothers of Destruction". ;-) |

Strange, that they don't have an own red dealer's/garage's plate. The plates, they are using, are temporary 5-days-plates. |

I do not like the show at all. I mean, yes, it may be entertaining (sometimes), and they are still better than Top Gear and know more than the stupid show master of Top Gear when it comes to knowledge of (good) cars, but still the main point of the series seems to laugh at some people with way too much weight who are obsessed with cars and have a pretty monochromatic life. -- Last edit: 2010-01-21 18:23:32 |

No offense, but why do particularly germans and austrians become such colossal dicks when we talk about Top Gear? Is it because you have absolutely no sense of humour or is it because you get upset over one or two hitler jokes which was your own problem? |
|
◊ 2010-07-08 21:23 |
I cannot see any humour in that series, ander her neither (the "Ludolf's is rather a freak-show, the cars aren't the important thing). Hitler-jokes don't have any connection, except the fact, that I don't know any. For that you rather look into the "revolver-press" from Britain and other countries. As I wrote several times before: Clarkson is an irrelevant idiot. He is not important, his opinion is not important and the whole show is not important. For what it shall be important? For who? And it's maybe registrated by some IMCDB-users, too: personally I'm a quite prejudiced guy. When I've characterized something as shit, this opinion will stay for a long while. And people, who likes stuff, which I've declared for me as shit, are loosing my respect. And I tell it to them. Not only here, I'm doing so also in the real life. Sure, it causes problems for me time-by-time, but this doesn't matter. I can live with that. ![]() |

P.S. Did Clarkson have made Hitler-jokes? I don't know details about Top Gear, because I've never watched any episode of it. |
|
◊ 2010-07-08 22:33 |
Yep. He always seems to bring them up around the original VW Beetle. There is amongst some in this country (in particular England) who seem to really dislike Germany. It particularly reared it's head before the England V Germany match. The Germans on the other hand probably approached it like any other match. |

@all: Horst Günter Ludolf is dead!!!! His brother Uwe found him yesterday morning in his house. He was 56 years old. Rest in Peace, Günter. We won´t forget you! http://www.abendblatt.de/multimedia/archive/00081/260284v1_jpg_81439c.jpg |

FYI: In contrast to Clarkson the Ludolfs are mechanics with a long tradition in Germany. If you search for a car part, they probably have it and they definitely know how to repair nearly any car model. I know you love your little Clarkson but he is a showmaster, not an expert. These smoking, coffee-drinking fast food-eating Germans in this show have more knowledge about cars Clarkson could ever gain in his life. just accept that. |
|
◊ 2011-06-21 22:24 |
This is true. They are freaks, no question - but their knowledge about cars (PLUS: about all single parts) is unbelievable. As written above, in 2006 I've met them personally. |
|
◊ 2011-06-21 22:31 |
I see, they smell the way they look like but indeed they deserve respect for their knowledge. |
|
◊ 2011-10-05 22:59 |
I get the feeling if these guys were British their show would only get shown on one of the satellite/cable channels rather than BBC2 (which everyone can get) But you are probably right that their car knowledge is much more encyclopedic than Clarkson's (he's a motoring journalist not a mechanic) -- Last edit: 2011-10-05 23:04:14 |
