Experience the American Journey through our country's visual heritage in this historical recording provided by the National Archives of the United States. This film from the CIA Film Library explores techniques used by surveillance teams, specifically the use of three cars to monitor the subject in question. This historical recording from the National Archives may contain variations in audio and video quality based on the limitations of the original source material. The content summary for this DVD is adapted from an historical description provided by the government agency or donor at the time of production release.

"CIA in the 70's making surveillance films for the UK, this speaks volumes even today. The UK has more surveillance camera than a dog has fleas, and in the past few years I have seen them go up everywhere. This use to happen in east Germany and the former USSR it was the big point of living under communism or fascism that the citizens were not free and watched by the government. Now they say we are lucky to have them watch our every move, it's for our safety"

1st thumb has 1967 Ford Zodiac Executive Mk4 [3022E]. 2nd thumb has 1973+ Cortina L Mk3 and VW Beetle (1500?). Background sports coupe is MGB GT. 3rd thumb late Ford Zephyr Mk4 Deluxe (probably 3008E, looks like a Ford-registered plate) plus probably a 1968-72 Humber Sceptre (Arrow version) beyond.

Nice, pure Hammond organ-sound :)
Sometimes I like to maltreat (a term, the others are using :/ ) surrounding with the Belgian classics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMz-JPnUb1A ,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaHuhoRmMoY , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsPmVS_3QnQ etc. :)

P.S. Correction: the title of the third Youtube is wrong. This song is named "Holiday".

@ ingo: For the last video, the year of the song it's 1965/1966?

Brilliant find - full of 70s delights. Loads of Imps, Avengers, Hunters .... Other lesser highlights include:
1] white Fiat 124 coupe S3 (with a Ford Consul Classic behind which must be a unique combination) after 00:40
2] green Wartburg Knight with late-for-UK black grille after 15:45 - /vehicle.php?id=463116
3] rear of red coupe very briefly at 16:35 - possibly very early TVR Grantura
4] Ford Escort Mk1 police panda van parked at roadside as if running a speed trap at roundabout exit 24:50
5] a saloon/sports racing car being trailer-towed behind a Transit at 25:05 - very very brief shot of rear. Possibly a 71 Camaro which was popular in early 70s Group 1 events in UK.

@dsl:  maybe if you're interested, you can try to add any of these. Appears an interesting quantity of cars. But others not listed :/

Yes, so the clip is much newer (and filmed in GB).

I would welcome that, as they are all really rare sights.

Don't think the coupe is a Grantura. It's nearly the same size as the Chrysler 180.

And the MK1 Escort is definitely not a really rare site.

My other thought was something like a Peerless with the slight fins to the tail-lights.

Yep - Agree Peerless. Much better than my thought of Jensen 541.

The Peerless would be our 1st of this 60s UK Triumph-based incarnation - we have 11 of a 1910-30 US firm with same name. If anyone wants to add more captures from this film, it won't be me attempting to get to grips with the techniques ... too scary. The Mk1 Escort van was more interesting for what it was - possibly - doing than what it was, though we probably don't have that many police usages.

I believe that this is the identical name - although a different company! To explain - during the First World War US Peerless trucks were used in Europe. After the war, the surplus trucks were sold off in the UK, and the garage doing so called itself the Peerless garage. The trucks were all sold, but the garage carried on. Many many years later, the UK glass-fibre Peerless was designed and sold at or near this garage, from which it took its name!
