The one thing about this film is the feel. It seems so real, and not as cheesy as most action films are. This film had a very low budget, so they made use of everything they had. This also explains why most of the Secret Service cars are seen through out the entire movie.

Does anybody know why was this chase filmed with the cars driving on the wrong side of the road?

wikipedia wrote The backwards car chase on a Los Angeles freeway sequence was one of the last things shot in the film and it took six weeks to shoot. At this point, Friedkin was working with a very stripped down crew. He came up with the idea of staging the chase against the flow of traffic on February 25, 1963 when he was driving home from a wedding in Chicago. He fell asleep at the wheel and woke up in the wrong lane with oncoming traffic heading straight for him. He swerved back to his side of the road and for the next 20 years wondered how he was going to use it in a film. He told stunt coordinator Buddy Joe Hooker that if they could come up with a chase better than the one in The French Connection then it would be in the film. If not, he would not use it. Petersen did a lot of his own driving during this sequence and actor John Pankow's stressed out reactions were real. Three weekends were spent on sections of the Long Beach Freeway near Wilmington, California that were closed for four hours at a time to allow the crew to stage the chaotic chase. With delays, the film ran a reported $1 million over budget.

By the way CCF, did you get my comment on this page?

Oh no i had not, i'll do it tomorrow if i remember, anyway thanks for the quoting, but that doesn't respond to why the traffic cars are driving on the wrong side as if they were for example in Great Britain :/

But that's the right side...

The reason for that is stated by John Pankow on the SE DVD:

"The traffic looked like Britain. Billy (Friedkin) wanted it to be chaotic. So while we were going the right way, everyone else was going the wrong way, thus adding to the confusion and complexity of the scene."

I still don't get it sorry, that doesn't respond to why did they decide to put the traffic going on the wrong side, the traffic, not them /vehicle_228932-Cadillac-Fleetwood-Eldorado-1973.html

There's still a few needing replacements (either different views or not posted). Pics without subs would be preferable too.

I'm adding this to the last completed list though, as there are some unknowns to identify and it has taken a long time for the movie to be sorted out.

I find one car which seems to be a '73 Monte Carlo. Can somebody provide it in better quality?

I have the highest possibly quality version of this movie - but no, unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to get a decent shot of that Monte Carlo since the camera angle is quickly changing at that moment.

I also spotted this interesting orange wagon at 01:25:54 into the movie. Not sure what it could be.

I can't get enough of this movie. It's one of the only movies that actually knows how to get me on the edge of my seat, no matter how many times I watch it. There's just something about it that mystifies me.

One of my favorite movies of all-time.
