It's totally laughable and couldn't be more obvious that it's not the US/Mexico border. The grey skies and dead looking deciduous winter vegetation and patches of snow make it very obvious it's somewhere much further north. It just has that Eastern European look to it. You just can't make the Bulgarian winter look like Mexico, period. It's like shooting a film in Greenland and pretending it's the Sahara.
