Okay...this is the only car posted on this series? LOL! This looks like a taxi. There were main vehicles used in this show. When the series first started Ironside I think used a restored late 1930's "Paddywagon" that had been customized to cart him and his wheelchair around to the scenes of the crimes. Does anyone know the actual year, make, and model of Ironside's Paddywagon?

Re Ironside's original Paddywagon or Black Maria, with the grill it had it looks like a vintage 1939 Ford police van. More info on this vehicle and lots of pictures are located at the following URLs:

The IMDB has an episode list with descriptions.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061266/episodes

We use the IMDB's season/episode numbering. For instance, episode 25 is 1.25 and 29 is 2.01.

So, I think I have them figured out now.

The Paddywagon is a 40-41 Ford replica (see the entry). It's based on the heavy duty (3/4 or one ton) trucks so it has different body work than the more common Ford pickups.

There's a bunch of episodes on Hulu right now; I just added a bunch of stills from episode 1.12 - anyone else want to help?

The vehicle used in the original Ironside TV series, starring Raymond Burr was interchangeably represented by three 1940 Ford 1 1/2 ton dualie wheel equipped vans which had been ordered new from Ford Motor Co. in 1940 equipped as actual municipal Police paddy wagons. One of those three vans was designated to be the "hero" unit, and therefore subjected to a series of custom modifications internally which primarily resulted in causing the former prisoner compartment of that vehicle to become fully accessible via wheelchair through the creatively talented, and highly imaginative auspices of the crew comprising the special effects department at Universal City Studios where the series was to be produced. Ford contracted with outside firms in 1940 just as they do now, to design and install the specific modifications/and or equipment required by their fleet customers such as the U.S. Post Office which specified the vehicles be configured as delivery vans, as well as city and county municipal police departments with their requirements for the vans to be equipped to serve as paddy wagons. I found some years back a brief few seconds of vintage 8 mm file film footage depicting one of one the units that had been configured for the U. S. Post Office being driven just a few feet towards the camera as it came to stop along side one of the cars in a parked freight train. In addition, just within the last hour I encountered the link to a page containing a series of photos of a rather dilapidated example of one of the versions of the 1940 Ford 1 1/2 ton dualie equipped van. Here is that link: Link to "www.goldenrod-garage.com" The unit differs from the three used on Ironside in that it has two small rectangular windows on either side of the rear compartment, two thin horizontal decorative body trim mouldings below those windows--one just above the other instead of the single thicker moulding always seen on the Paddy Wagon, and then finally, there is the style of dualie fenders it is equipped with as well as the rear platform-type bumper the rear portion of those fenders change in shape to become a part of.

Just in case, for those who find themselves idle: this series is a gold mine for IMCDb-able cars.

And, moreover, cars made of what I dare call American Perpendicular (1965-1972), the most glorious US car design in automotive history.

(Unfortunately, Youtubed episodes of Ironside are hideously panned-and-scanned. The job will require dvd-boxes.)

I started watching Ironside recently alongside other programmes shown on itv4 here in the UK.

I took some photos of a semi-articulated truck with two trailers from early on in Episode 19 of Series 5.It appears in the blink of an eye and disappears with only a small amount of the tractor's cab being in view.

Not sure where episode 3.18 was filmed, the episode is set in Fiji, and the cars are not US versions.

The cars I have seen in the photos here are a mix of British and Australian models - as you might find in Fiji. Whether the actors went to Fiji one can only speculate.
