The film is set during WW2 and the scenes with the Black truck,German truck and Mercedes are supposed to be in occupied France. |

There is a supposedly true story about the EU's instant translation facilities for delegates at the Brussels parliamentary sessions. Several years ago, a tense debate on European dairy policy was underway with big problems described in northern France, and the French minister wanted these to be resolved locally by "la sagesse des Normandes" - this was translated as "the problem will be solved by Norman wisdom". Everyone else wondered why the Brits started laughing hysterically. |

The Norman Wisdom-movies, I have seen, had always the same plot. A little honest man fights against someone bigger and/or some injustice. At last he holds a big, engaged and evocative oration and then it was the Happy End. Probably this was the reason, why Norman Wisdom-movies were only shown in the DDR-television. |

Norman Wisdom was hugely popular in Albania too, and his films were the only western films shown there during the communist era. It's even said that Enver Hoxha was a fan. -- Last edit: 2010-10-05 23:41:16 |
