DidierF ◊ 2013-11-14 17:39	I'm spending a lot of time on I'm not quite sure that the movie deserves it, but there are many vehicles to catch, some rather interesting. News reels are used in the beginnings, some footage coming from el Bogotazo, I'm 90% sure —specialists of the Colombian army and vehicles, beware!— and other maybe from the Irish Civil War. I'm trying to find the best shots of two different Cadillacs, and of two different Tractions, all of them important. In the mean time, play and name the cars here: You have the two Cads, the two Tractions, and… a DS? A 203 and a DKW? And isn't it a Rover on the left? With some words about the movie and an enormous warning to IMPDb.org, I'll announce I'm through with the captures.

DidierF ◊ 2013-11-14 18:14	Bon, c'est fait. Alors, ces "Fanatiques", d'Alex Joffé, hein ? Le sujet : un révolutionnaire sud-américain (Pierre Fresnay) veut se débarrasser de "son" dictateur sur le point de quitter la France. À l'aéroport de Nice, il comprend soudain que ce dernier ne prendra pas son avion personnel mais un vol de ligne. Malgré l'opposition d'un autre exilé (Michel Auclair), le terroriste décide d'embarquer la machine infernale sur le vol régulier, exposant donc la vie de 50 passagers… Bon, voilà l'histoire. Le problème, ce sont les gros défauts du film, très énervants, en particulier la série de décisions abracadabrantes du personnage de Fresnay à partir de la 45ème minute. Il y a aussi, embarrassantes assez, la casuistique et les argumentations — le faire ou non ? — qui paraissent assez tardives, pour des gars déterminés. Il y a tout de même des qualités. D'abord, tout le monde joue bien. Ensuite, la photo et le rythme sont très bons. Et puis, il y a l'intéressante unité de temps : hormis le prologue, tout le film se déroule dans une seule journée, et même demi-journée, et la dernière demi-heure d'action narrée occupe… les trente dernières minutes du film, qui revêt à ce moment-là un aspect qui sera utilisé puis moqué plus tard dans les "films catastrophes" et leurs parodies. Mais en 1957, je pense que c'est assez neuf. Last but not least, il y a une discrète anglophilie ici et là, qui ne me semble pas si fréquente dans les films français. Au total, ce film vaut d'être vu, je trouve. Bon, supporters de IMPDb.org, je vais adjoindre un autre message d'ici peu. Attention, il y a pas mal d'images. Maybe the mother of the "Airport"-like movies… This film holds quite well the classic triple costraint: unity of time, place and action, the last half-hour covering 30 minutes of real action. There are nevertheless some appalingly annoying moments, absurd decisions and tedious conversations. But since you can find here and there some nice anglophilic touches, good and restrain acting, a fine photo (you'll check it through the captures), and the adequate pace (slow alternating with fast times), this is not a movie to overlook. So as usual with the movie industry, a mix of some news footage from Colombia (yes ! el Bogotazo as proved by wallpaper refering to Medellín behind the people trying to avoid bullets) and from Argentina (Bombing of Plaza de Mayo, 1955). And the screenplay added Uruguay ("a message from Montevideo") to dilute susceptibilities Thanks for your review, a little too harsh : only the security agent are not credible... and the last three minutes An interesting theory about dictatorship and the way to stop this. About aircraft, a deep rework of the IMPDB is done : chronological order + detail additions (Bombing of Plaza de Mayo at least).
