Complete revision to replace previous entry which only contained one anonymously submitted picture of the Rolls (so by default I become the only contributor). OK thriller in the Alfred Hitchcock style with lots of twists and turns - well regarded at the time with a cast of English screen stars, but inevitably fairly pedestrian now. Recently re-released in high quality cleaned-up print.

Planes for impdb - loads of them, as key character is chairman of his own plane factory
[Image: planeadaco.jpg]
Some of the planes are Miles Aircraft from the registrations, so footage might have been filmed at their production site at the old Woodley Airfield, now the site for Museum of Berkshire Aviation.

Added information that could help identify further the fire engines in use at the airport and for IMPDb...

Airfield footage filmed at Luton Airport Bedfordshire, north of London, from IMDb - Trivia, but not listed unnder filming locations!

"Luton Airport was the location for all of the aerial and ground airfield sequences shot in the movie.

"At the time that this movie was being made, the airfield was still under Air Ministry control, but it was due to be given back to its owners, Luton Borough Council the following year. This may partly explain the eclectic mix of aircraft on the ground, including Royal Air Force jet fighters and radio trainers, Royal Navy target tugs, commercial transports, and small private aircraft.

"The aircraft crashed by Tom Denning (Sir John Mills), G-AITS, was a Miles M14A Hawk Trainer 3.

"The factory used in the production line sequence is the Percival Aircraft Company based a Luton Airport, Bedfordshire. The aircraft in the assembly line are Prince transports.

"The aircraft Mr. Denning (Sir John Mills) used to search for the group of gypsies was a Miles Gemini Mk1A. It survived until November 5, 1966, when it was burned on a Guy Fawkes night bonfire.

"During World War II, Luton Airport was acquired from Luton Borough Council as a Royal Air Force station, with 264 Squadron flying from it using Boulton Paul Defiant fighters."
