Disney Channel semi-remake of the 1987 Teen-exploitation flick.

There's also a police motorcycle that I thought was a BMW, but I'm not entirely sure about anymore.

Also, I can't tell if that third generation Ford Focus is a coupe, sedan, or hatchback.

This might be the same motorcycle as the one in the first thumbnail...

.. but I doubt it.

Sort of. It was intended to be a sequel called "Further Adventures in Babysitting" starring Raven-Symone and Miley Cyrus. Then the script was shelved for several years before Disney finally decided to revamp it and put some more recent starlets as the leads.

the original was a good movie enough, no need to remake it [:kiki]

It wasn't that bad. They ditched the four-letter words, updated the cultural references and made a few other scenes different. None of the girls were mistaken for Playboy centerfold models, but Sofia Carson borrowed a one piece bathing suit so she could go sunbathing or swimming (Hint-Hint, sixcyl). Plus, if you're familiar with the original, you can see some of the similarities between that and the remake.

So basically they PC-ified it?

...And why didn't they push it up a year so it would at least coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the original?

Pretty much unfortunately. I wish Hollywood would stop injecting that into TV and Film because it ends up ruining everything.

Well being a Disney channel TV movie, I can already tell from a mile that this remake is the usual mediocre tripe that they churn out.

Very true. After this and Ghostbusters, I wonder what 1980s or 1970s classic they'll remake next. Hell, now they're even remaking 1990s movies (Point Break)! I used to love mainstream movies, but in recent years I've really lost faith in Hollywood. There's no passion left, it's solely about politics and profit now. I think that's pretty sad.

Deadpool was very original and as PC-less as you could get this days and a big office hit

but this is an exception movie as the dicks in suits let Ryan Reynolds a free hand

Well, original compared to the 600 million other super hero movies made within the past 10 years

I could think of one or two movies that could be remade, as well as a TV show that could be turned into a movie, but there are others that shouldn't be and/or shouldn't have been. I don't necessarily think this was one of them. At the same time, I also know of some original ideas that wouldn't be so bad.

OT, why is this New Flyer D40 still listed as unknown:

I've been convinced that original ideas aren't the money makes like they used to be since EVERYTHING has been done at least once.

some examples

should NOT have been remade !!

- The Italian Job
- Clash of the titans
- Karate Kid
- Conan The barbarian
- Planet of the apes
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Should BE remade
- LOST IN SPACE
- Wild Wild West
- Catwoman
- Hudson Hawk
- Street Fighter
- Howard The Duck
- Fanatstic Four
- Beverlly Hills Cop 3 (simply pretend the 3rd one didn't exist by bringing Inspector Todd back)

Wild Wild West should definitely be re made with someone who isn't Will Smith. Catwoman was barely entertaining so it deserves a more entertaining remake (possibly with Anne Hathaway since she played the role recently). Hudson Hawk just plain sucked so it deserves a remake. Never saw Street Fighter so no opinion can be offered. Howard The Duck needs a remake that isn't terrible. Fantastic Four has failed so many time that it would be best to just ignore that franchise all together. Beverly Hills Cop 3 I agree on 100%. The Italian Job remake was very entertaining. Clash Of The Titans I never saw the original but I did see the unnecessary remakes. Karate Kid definitely shouldn't have been remade (especially since Jaden Smith is a lousy actor). Conan The Barbarain I have never seen. Planet Of The Apes, if you are talking about the 2001 movie than I agree. Charlie & The Chocolate Factory I agree on too.

What is unfortunate now is that they are remaking The Blair Witch Project (1999) which when I found out pissed me off to no end because it already had a terrible sequel.

I know. I saw something about that recently and my first thought was "what the hell are the doing that for?"

One movie that should never be remade is "National Lampoon's Animal House." However, I'd be okay with a remake of "The Young Runaways." Hell, even the conversion into a DCOM would be okay with me. "F Troop" could even be turned into a movie, if they did it right. A remake of "You're a Big Boy Now," could work today. I'm on the fence about a remake of "Up the Down Staircase," partially because of "Dangerous Minds."

Don't forget Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Fright Night, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Fog, and really most 1970s/1980s horror movies. Seriously, why does it seem as though Hollywood likes remaking horror more than any other genre? I wonder which one they will remake next, i.e. Jaws, The Exorcist, The Shining, etc.?

Baube QC

2016-07-27 06:59

since everything is CGI-zed now, if they do a remake of Jaws they won't have all the problems they had with the mechanical shark... ;)
