Although dated as 1950, very few of the vehicles, especially private cars, shown in this film are post WW2. At this time UK Government was pushing as hard as it could to promote exports to gain foreign exchange, so new cars were virtually unobtainable by the ordinary person. Even the Hillman and the Jaguar, the only nearly new cars shown, were just warmed over prewar designs, in the case of the Hillman, the chassis dated back to 1932. The commercial vehicles are newish, either demobbed ex services or post war, and the Leyland RTL was probably just on the road. -- Last edit: 2017-06-02 09:57:42 |
