Another Robert Siodmak's film, the German exilee being seduced by the story written by Vladimir Pozner and its treatment made for the screen by Nunnally Johnson. For, once again, it's a study in manipulation. A bit artificial, but extremely pleasant. More over, we have the pleasure to see and hear Thomas Mitchell, and an excellent Olivia de Havilland… … twice. Once again, very few cars: a studio recreation of the street, here, only for 8 seconds, and the two other cars seen above. Ce Siodmak-là a connu une sortie en France, semble-t-il. Tant mieux pour les cinéphages de l'époque. Une bonne histoire, relevant du thriller psychologique une fois encore. bien menée et bien jouée, et très bien photographiée. |
