DidierF ◊ 2014-09-29 11:49	Last of Robert Siodmak's movies made in France — most of them being shown on IMCDb: Le sexe faible, La crise est finie, Mister Flow, Cargaison blanche, and Mollenard, for me the greatest. is level with Mollenard. Lead by Marie Déa (here with Jean Témerson, one of these so important character actors in French cinema) miraculously spontaneious here —by far her best movie, in my opinion— and a quite good Maurice Chevalier, but equipped with heavy parts by Stroheim and Pierre Renoir, … once again at the top: « Mais la preuve la plus… — Comment ? Y en a pas assez ? Ma tête… … tient encore sur mes épaules. — Pour l'instant. » About the cars, it's an other story. The two main are only seen at windshield level! Disappointed! Excellent film de Siodmak, presque au niveau de Mollenard selon moi, qui clôt sa période française. Marie Déa y est formidable, tout comme Pierre Renoir - sans oublier Maurice Chevalier dans ce qui est peut-être son premier rôle "sérieux", et André Brunot (excellent en opiniâtre commissaire Tenier). Ajout fait à la revoyure de ce film, mai 2018, qui me renforce dans l'idée que c'est un des tous meilleurs films français des années '30, et Robert Siodmak un des géants de ce cinéma-là, aux côtés de Duvivier, Jean Renoir, Feyder, Carné… et Guitry. Excellent film de Siodmak, presque au niveau de Mollenard selon moi, qui clôt sa période française.
