I discovered the Endeavour series, available on Amazon Prime a couple of months back, The most recent episodes were filmed and on TV orignally in 2014 and I literally watched the whole series within a few days time.
I loved the early reference to Morse's Jaguar from the later series.

Just watched Series 3, and I found the first episode of Series 3 is inspired by the F Scott Fitzgerald story; The Great Gatsby, even the characters in the episode based on the characters in the Great Gatsby:

Joss Bixby (portrayed by David Oakes)- Based on Jay Gatsby; the mysterious millionaire and the main character.

Morse (portrayed by Shaun Evans)- Based on Nick Carraway; the Buchanans' cousin, the narrator and Gatsby's friend.

Kay Belborough (portrayed by Jemima West)- Based on Daisy Buchanan; Nick's cousin and Gatsby's old flame.

Bruce Belborough (portrayed by Ben Mansfield)- Based on Tom Buchanan; a former Polo player and Daisy Buchanan's cheating husband.

Elva Piper (portrayed by Margaret Clunie)- Based on Jordan Baker; Daisy's friend and Nick's girlfriend.

Jeannie Hearne (portrayed by Meghan Treadway)- Based on Myrtle Wilson; Tom Buchanan's mistress and wife of Buchanan's associate; George Wilson.

Harry Rose (as a associate, portrayed by Vincent Riotta)- Based on Meyer Wolfshiem; gang boss and Gatsby's associate.

Harry Rose (as a mentor)- Based on Dan Cody; the millionaire that Gatsby saved and took Gatsby under his wing.

There is also references to Gatsby:

Bixby's real name as "Charlie Green"- Refers to James Gatz; Gatsby's real name.

Bixby's Age- Refers to the age that Gatsby was when he died; 32.

The JB Logo- Refers to Gatsby's "JG" Logo.

Bixby's Parties- Refers to the parties that Gatsby's threw.

Rose's involvement in drugs- Refers to Wolfshiem's involvement in the bootlegged alcohol business.

Rose Fixing the World Cup- Refers to Wolfshiem fixing the 1919 World Baseball Series.

The Photo- Refers to the "Green Light" that sits on the end of dock at the Buchanans' mansion.

The Letter- Refers to the letter that Gatsby wrote to Daisy after coming home from the Great War.

Think tonight's episode (6.01) has a blink and you'll miss it appearance from a Jensen CV8, this one probably:

In Tonight’s episode - Sunday 10th February 2019
Young Sgt Morse is driving a Mk2 Austin 1100 panda car
which is correct for the year 1969.

The Reg Number is entirely incorrect !
It clearly shows a Northern Ireland black and white
plate overlaid on the yellow / white plates underneath.

The period location is Oxford.

All other vehicles have more appropriate redg numbers.

Why this error?

Perhaps the car was a backup which had to be used when the main car for the role broke down and there wasn't enough time to remove the plates and swap over the ones from the main car.

Apparently there was a van used with J plates on. ;)

According to an article online the 264HZ plate might refer to the Frequency of Middle C, which might be considered an apt in-joke for classical music lover Morse.

It certainly wasn't convincing as a fake:

Austin 1300 Mk2 4-door. There was no law which said panda cars had to be 1100 2-doors, but most of them were. And most had a roof box or light so that no-one would think they were ordinary blue cars with a bit of white paint and a door sticker.

And the logo on the side of the truck looks a bit too starkly direct. Even in the 1960s, folk were a bit squeamish about knowing what happened to their favourite dead Dobbin. Especially by a bloke called Skynner.

Not only does the logo look too direct but the vehicle looks far too smart. Our local “dealer in fallen stock” used a rather scruffy Austin Loadstar painted a sort of reddish colour.

I've added two vehicles with pics from the latest series, but after showing up, they have now disappeared. :( What is/was wrong with them?
