Lightweight documentary focused on the effects of the 1947 Transport Act which co-ordinated canals, shipping, road haulage, bus and coach services etc under new national or regional organisations. Road haulage became British Road Services, trains into British Rail etc. London Transport absorbed bus, coach, trolley bus, Underground into one co-ordinated responsibility. So lots and lots and lots of trains, buses, coaches, trucks, boats, barges, ships - well worth watching for the incredible variety of stuff rapidly flashed up throughout. But hardly any planes, and none worth capturing. Rejected trucks as IDs probably impossible Coach poster Bus/coach wheels - no obvious onscreen connection with other entries. 2-4 could be AEC Renown LT?? Various pictures I liked, including a very big kettle: |

What a brilliant collection of stuff, you can see what a worn out well used place GB was after the war. LMS No 10000, diesel electric, none of this "turbin" stuff on the West Coast Main Line. Reference, on the billboard, to London Coastal Coaches "Eastbourne for 6/6d" https://www.flickr.com/photos/36844288@N00/13628296143/lightbox/ -- Last edit: 2014-09-08 20:58:03 |

The Eling Causeway sign is at the Eling Tide Mills south of Totton, near Southampton, Hampshire. |
