When was this movie set and where it shall be located? The license-plate are irritating. The white ones are made with the old German DIN-tools, but I cannot recognize, for which country they shall be. Other cars have French-style plates, but that one from the Rolls Royce seems to be made with German font, too, but in the newer Euro-style. :??:

Set in France & some South-American country, not mentioned in the movie (or I missed it), in the 70s (around 1976, few years before & after)
It is the story of this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Spaggiari

The Rolls-Royce plate may be the actual plate of the car, made with recent font but old color, this is not rare for old cars in France I think.

The plate on the Rolls isn't FE-Schrift but a new-ish French font that I'm sure wasn't around in the seventies. All the French cars in Speilberg's "Munich" have plates in the same font, and it's obvious that they're freshly-made plates all from the same supplier. :) For example: /vehicle_30930-Mercedes-Benz-LP-LP-7,5t-1977.html
