The name "Bandeirante" means a kind of territorial expeditioner that were responsible to enlarge Brazil boundaries in the 18th century to the interior in profit of Portugal and against Spain rights according to Pope's rules. The expediton were named "Bandeiras" (flags) because they run all the time porting big flags and bandeirante was the man who entered on the Bandeira. That is the reason of "bandeirante de hoje" which means today's expeditioner, refering to the Jeep. Later on, Toyota christened its own 'jeep' by Bandeirante. A strong name. |
